August 7th, 2010 Student Supply List
Welcome to grades 3 & 4 and to a new school year at Monterey Ridge Elementary School, one that will be filled with exciting learning experiences.
Success this year will be, to a great degree, dependent on how organized one is. With this in mind, in order to help us stay organized at school and in transporting paperwork between home and school, The 3rd and 4th grade teachers are suggesting the following school supplies:
1. A 1½ inch, three-ring (metal rings) binder (no bigger please) with a clear pocket in front and the student’s your name written on it. (Please no zipper or snap enclosures.)
2. A pencil pouch that will fit in the 3-ring binder, with sharpened pencils, a red pen and a Magic Rub eraser (in addition to the ones listed below.) No pencil boxes, please.
3. Two sets of 5 index-tabbed dividers. (Do not place subjects in tabs. We will do this in class.)
4. Two packs of wide-ruled 8½” x 11” lined notebook paper.
5. A hard cover composition book, wide-ruled for 3rd graders and 4 spiral notebooks, 1 subject, 70+ pages wide-ruled for 4th graders.
6. 4 Dry erase markers; 2 fine points (small) and 2 chisel tips (big). Expo brand is recommended.
7. Two — three dozen #2 sharpened pencils. Ticonderoga is the preferred brand. No mechanical pencils, please.
8. A package of pencil cap erasers.
9. A set of 24 colored pencils.
10. Two small marker sets (10 markers) basic colors both thick and fine points. (Crayola brand recommended)
11. A jumbo glue stick or 3 smaller glue sticks.
12. A sturdy pair of scissors that actually cut with a pointed tip and 4 – 5 inch blades.
13. Two red ballpoint pens. (in addition to the one in the pencil pouch)
14. A large container of wet-wipes. (Baby-type wipes and Clorox wipes recommended.)
15. 2 Magic Rub erasers. (in addition to the one in the pencil pouch)
16. One black Sharpie pen, fine point.
17. One black Sharpie pen, ultra or extra fine point.
18. A hand-held pencil sharpener (the type that collects the shavings.)
19. One highlighter.
20. A box of crayons, no more than 24.
21. A 4oz bottle of white glue.
22. A box of facial tissues (Kleenex.)
23. A small box of latex-free Band-Aids.
24. A ream of colored paper or cardstock paper, any color.
25. Two reams of 8½” X 11” white, 20 lb. bond paper for school-wide use.
Please bring the above supplies to school on the first day. Some of the supplies will be collected and distributed throughout the year. Keep in mind that all student supplies are to be stored inside desks, and the desks are very small. Large items will not fit inside and students may be asked to take the items home. If for any reason these materials cannot be purchased, they will be supplied for children’s use.
Thank you very much for your assistance.
