MRS. KING'S SCHOLARS

Wel­come to grades 3 & 4 and to a new school year at Mon­terey Ridge Ele­men­tary School, one that will be filled with excit­ing learn­ing experiences.

Suc­cess this year will be, to a great degree, depen­dent on how orga­nized one is. With this in mind, in order to help us stay orga­nized at school and in trans­port­ing paper­work between home and school, The 3^rd and 4^th grade teach­ers are sug­gest­ing the fol­low­ing school supplies:

1. A 1½ inch, three-​​ring (metal rings) binder (no big­ger please) with a clear pocket in front and the student’s your name writ­ten on it. (Please no zip­per or snap enclosures.)

2. A pen­cil pouch that will fit in the 3-​​ring binder, with sharp­ened pen­cils, a red pen and a Magic Rub eraser (in addi­tion to the ones listed below.) No pen­cil boxes, please.

3. Two sets of 5 index-​​tabbed dividers. (Do not place sub­jects in tabs. We will do this in class.)

4. Two packs of wide-​​ruled 8½” x 11” lined note­book paper.

5. A hard cover com­po­si­tion book, wide-​​ruled for 3^rd graders and 4 spi­ral note­books, 1 sub­ject, 70+ pages wide-​​ruled for 4^th graders.

6. 4 Dry erase mark­ers; 2 fine points (small) and 2 chisel tips (big). Expo brand is recommended.

7. Two — three dozen #2 sharp­ened pen­cils. Ticon­deroga is the pre­ferred brand. No mechan­i­cal pen­cils, please.

8. A pack­age of pen­cil cap erasers.

9. A set of 24 col­ored pencils.

10. Two small marker sets (10 mark­ers) basic col­ors both thick and fine points. (Cray­ola brand recommended)

11. A jumbo glue stick or 3 smaller glue sticks.

12. A sturdy pair of scis­sors that actu­ally cut with a pointed tip and 4 – 5 inch blades.

13. Two red ball­point pens. (in addi­tion to the one in the pen­cil pouch)

14. A large con­tainer of wet-​​wipes. (Baby-​​type wipes and Clorox wipes recommended.)

15. 2 Magic Rub erasers. (in addi­tion to the one in the pen­cil pouch)

16. One black Sharpie pen, fine point.

17. One black Sharpie pen, ultra or extra fine point.

18. A hand-​​held pen­cil sharp­ener (the type that col­lects the shavings.)

19. One highlighter.

20. A box of crayons, no more than 24.

21. A 4oz bot­tle of white glue.

22. A box of facial tis­sues (Kleenex.)

23. A small box of latex-​​free Band-​​Aids.

24.  A ream of col­ored paper or card­stock paper, any color.

25. Two reams of 8½” X 11” white, 20 lb. bond paper for school-​​wide use.

Please bring the above sup­plies to school on the first day. Some of the sup­plies will be col­lected and dis­trib­uted through­out the year. Keep in mind that all stu­dent sup­plies are to be stored inside desks, and the desks are very small. Large items will not fit inside and stu­dents may be asked to take the items home. If for any rea­son these mate­ri­als can­not be pur­chased, they will be sup­plied for children’s use.
