My full name is Karen Lor­raine Bryan King. I’m a South­ern Cal­i­for­nia native, born a long, long time ago in Long Beach. I have a twin brother (he’s the baby) and 4 older sis­ters. I grew up in the cities of Para­mount and West­min­ster, located in Los Ange­les and Orange County. Listed below are high­lights in my edu­ca­tional career, teach­ing expe­ri­ence, and family.

Cre­den­tials and High­lights:

• National Board for Pro­fes­sional Teach­ing Stan­dards, Mid­dle Childhood/​Generalist Cer­tifi­cate  (Renewed cer­ti­fi­ca­tion in 2006.)

• Mas­ters degree in spe­cial education

• Mul­ti­ple sub­jects teach­ing credential

• BS in home eco­nom­ics with a minor in child development

• Men­tor teacher

• Mas­ter teacher

Expe­ri­ence:

Twenty-​​four years of full time ele­men­tary teach­ing expe­ri­ence, seven years spent at Canyon View Ele­men­tary School, twelve years at Park Vil­lage Ele­men­tary School and the past five years at Mon­terey Ridge Ele­men­tary School.

Fam­ily:

• Mar­ried for 37 years to Jef­frey Don­ald King, Sr.- a retired prin­ci­pal from the Poway Uni­fied School Dis­trict and cur­rently prin­ci­pal at Mis­sion Mid­dle School in the Escon­dido School District.

• Son, Gre­gory and wife Cyn­thia. They have two hand­some sons: Chris­t­ian, 13 and Steven, 11.

• Son, Jef­frey, and wife Ali­son. They have three beau­ti­ful daugh­ters, Cait­lyn Joyce, 6 years old, and Mikayla June, 4 years old, and Lore­lai Faith, 14 months old.

• Daugh­ter, Nanette, and hus­band Steve Dono­hue. They have 2 chil­dren: a son, Brodie Christo­pher, 7; and daugh­ter Ella Claire, 5.

• Son, Jonathan and wife Jade. Jonathan and Jade are expect­ing their first child some­time in March, but nobody knows about this yet. So…shhhhhhh.…let’s keep their secret!
